The downtown area of Asheville is a delightful mix of cuisine from around the world. Here are a few we recommend.
Pan-Asian dim sum, noodle & rice dishes served in a laid-back space in the oldest building Downtown.
Indian chaat (small plates) plus home-style platters (thalis) in a snug storefront space.
Traditional recipes from the Himalayas, including rice and curry dishes, in a comfortable atmosphere.
Mexican & Caribbean staples with tequila & rum cocktails in a simple storefront setting.
Modern tavern in a vintage building with over 35 rotating taps, live music & eclectic eats.
Crêpes are their specialty, but they also have delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and more!
A creative take on traditional Southern food, set in a fun atmosphere.
Farm-to-table Southern comfort food, including all-day breakfasts, in a no-frills storefront
A restaurant with "farm-to-fork cuisine", and some of the best burgers in Asheville.
Eclectic Southern-influenced comfort food plus specialty cocktails in a relaxed bistro with a patio
This is a place with some of the best hand-crafted artisnal chocolates and pastries. It's a very popular joint, so be prepared for a bit of a wait.
Conosur is a little unsung gem just a little south of Asheville. I discovered this eatery over a year ago as I began my search for Pleasant Grove Cottages. Conosur serves authentic Peruvian cuisine with a fusion twist. Make sure you try the Chacarero sandwich, Arroz Chaufa, the Empanada's or even the black beans & rice are amazing.
